The people who participate in our programs are inspiring, strong and they are the reason we do what we do. Here are some of the many stories from our community.
“He doesn’t stop for anything — he just keeps going and going,” says Barbara Raeburn, the manager behind the counter at the bowling alley this morning. “We have to make him stop working.”
“I read a book about my life that was put together by me and some of my staff here at Options for All. I hope my book gets published so my friends and family can know about my life.” – Efren.
In 2013 in an effort to further our mission, Options for All, made a powerful decision to challenge the status quo of the programmatic mold and implement our Microenterprise program.
These successful entrepreneurial programs provide work for individuals that more closely matches their needs, versus those of a prospective employer.
Recently Juan was able to join Options for All at one of our bi-monthly networking events. Juan dressed quite dapper in a suit, and bravely expressed to the crowd the joy and fulfillment he has gained since being a part of the workforce.
I first sought Tailored Day services for help with a patent. I had a vision but much less of a grasp on the finer points of the process in which to carry it out. I’ve always had an interest in transportation and vehicles to a degree of taxation classically in line with the more unique and valuable tendencies of Autism, although some other less valuable tendencies of that condition have placed formidable challenges before me
Angel’s dream is to be a sports writer and blogger. With the help of his Program Manager, Nicki, and his job coaches, Angel has been crafting stories about any and everything from his local youth soccer games, up to some of the biggest matches in UFC history, all so that he can hone his craft.
Carol fought to ensure Shane had access to quality education and milestones that most high school students take for granted. With the support and guidance of her family, Carol began to identify Shane’s needs and searched for the perfect program to accommodate his goals.
Aaron works at Barnes & Noble and has proven a dependable member of their staff. Whether he is on the clock or volunteering at various organizations throughout the Poway community, Aaron strives for perfection and ensures all tasks are completed timely and accurately.
A story like Todd’s is that of an individual in pursuit of a fulfilling and accomplished life with parents who have the highest hopes for their son. Just like us, Todd deserves to be challenged, taught, supported, and to have the opportunity to become a contributing member of his community.
James was beaming. It was not only his first day of training on the floor at an Austin Walmart, but it was his dream job. For so long he had wanted to be a custodian. It was not only day one, but the first paid job he had ever had. James is 48 years old.
Advocates, Parents and caregivers occasionally share resources outside of Options for All with us. We are pleased to share those resources with you as part of our community.
Over the years at E&CO, Andy has held several jobs, including The Fish Market, Pizza Hut and at a few hotels. Andy has bonded deeply with a number of E&CO staff and clients. Even after his battle back from Meningitis cost him his hearing and most of his speech, Andy remained eager to attend program with his contagious smile and enthusiasm.
