Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities characterized by impairments in social interaction and communication as well as restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior. According to the Centers for Disease Control, by 2008 the prevalence of children diagnosed with an ASD was 1 in 88, an increase of 78% since 2002, and prevalence continues to climb.
To prepare for the influx of individuals with Autism who will be seeking services from adult agencies within the next three to five years, Employment & Community Options offers an individualized program to assess and accommodate such individuals so they can integrate more fully into the community or at a jobsite.
Behavioral support and staff training focused on Autism is included in all our programs: Integrated Employment, Supported Employment, Independent Living Services and Microenterprise Businesses.
